This is just a quick fix if you have the same specific problem with your Wiiconnect24 service I had.
If you are even unable to read the contract to access the internet services, then, chances are that you don´t live in one of the usual suspects, a.k.a: UK, Spain, France, Italy, Germany Belgium or Holland.
I´m a Spanish citizen living in Slovakia and was desperate (well, kind of) to get my hands on one of those Wiis that have been conquering the world of home entertaining for some time. Two weeks ago i got mine and jumpstarted to play tennis and baseball. I didn´t thought about the internet and the Wiishop because the access to my Wi-fi network was fast and flawless, downloading the firmware without a problem. But the following days i started to mess around: Some Miis (even my mother in law got one…), saved mine in the remote and tried the Wiiconnect that asked me to accept the terms of the contract. Well, I tried and tried to read it but i couldn´t, and the internet forums i searched for an answer didn´t help either. But after a couple of hours i guessed the fix.
First, go to the Wii Settings menu and in the third page select country. Then, once there, change it (because probably you choosed the one you live in; how naïve we are, aren´t we?)to one of the suspects I said in the first group; I reccomend UK if you are in Europe and reading this in english, but if you speak one of those other languages no problem, just choose the one you fancy.
The second step is to go to the internet option, again in the Wii settings menu, and inside you´ll find the agreement/contract option. Go there, read it and accept it. It´ll be in the language of the country you selected.
Last, under the internet option is our desired Wiiconnect. Choose it and it´ll ask you if you want to use the Wiiconnect24 and Wiishop services (appart from the wheather channel and the news channel; wonderful both). That I leave it to you, but if you click yes, then after a couple of minutes you will be able to download the Opera browser in the Wiishop; i must remind you that it won´t be for free for a lot more time, so…
There i finish this quick fix for a very simple problem and i hope it helps somebody as it did with me. If it worked for you too, please leave a comment. Thanks.
thankyou so much - we had the same problem in bulgaria.
now it works fine … mnogo bladadaria moyta preateli
I know! We aren´t big markets for nintendo. At least they should open an international node so everybody outside those countries could use the services or buy games in the shop. But they even don´t say anything about this. I hope you have fun with it!
Dakujem, Priatel!
hmmm that’s a good fix - however, what can one do to set the forecast channel to display their home country’s weather? This is even more frustrating for games like Nights that use the forecast channel information in the game. Choosing a different country with your same language (like UK) is fine, but i don’t think anyone wants UK weather if they don’t live there!
thank you
thx it really helped me out.gracias.mucho gracias.adios
Thanks, everybody! It´s good to kick the system, even if it´s just a simple tap.
Many thanks !
The Wii of my son came back from after-sale repair and did not connect to Wiiconnect24 even internet and updates were OK. I tried hard but did gain nothing
No chance with Nintendo.com, no chance on french forums.
And you gave me the answer ! Even I live in the “usual suspects”, the Wii was set on Albania/french…
Thanks again !
I´m glad It helped! Maybe Nintendo has the service there, ¿in Albania?
How long was it out for repair?
We are naive indeed
